Blakey Update

15 Month Wellness Appt: Our little man is growing fast, he is now 33 ¼” tall (90%). He weighed in at 23lbs 12oz (45%). So he is growing right on track. He is climbing and running and very active little boy. He is currently saying about 3 words (Momma, Daddy and Doggie). He definitely understands us when we talk to him or tell him to do stuff. But he mostly just babbles.

Eating/Drinking: He loves his milk, apple juice and powerade. He loves almost all fruit with his favorite being watermelon, mandarin oranges and strawberries. His favorite breakfast item is pancakes. He is starting to like bacon but refuses to eat eggs. I’ve tried giving him eggs a few different times and he just spits them out. He also loves yogurt in the morning. As for lunch, he loves raviolis, Mega Noodles Soup, Chicken Nuggets, Grilled Cheese, Macaroni and Cheese, PB&J. His favorite snacks are Raisins, Animal Crackers, Nilla Wafers, Fruit Snacks, Mini Club Soda crackers with cheese. When he eats a good dinner he will get ice cream (cookie dough is his favorite) or an Oreo Cookies. For Dinner he typically loves any type of Pasta with Lasagna being his favorite. He has recently discovered pizza. (His Momma’s favorite) He likes to eat pizza like a big boy and hold it all by himself. Vegetables – well let’s just say that it’s a struggle, he basically spits them out. Although, recently he tried a raw carrot and dipped it into Veggie Dip and actually liked it. He loves all kinds of potatoes, whether it’s mashed, hash browns, baked or French fries

Sleep: Blake is a very good sleeper and I’m so lucky that he sleeps so good at night. We are very consistent with his bed time routine. We start bath about 7:30 and then we brush his teeth and read a book and give him a bottle and he is usually lights out by 8:15. He usually sleeps till about 7ish. He loves reading his books

Kid Songs: Blake loves Kid Songs Music DVD’s. His favorite is a “Day at Camp”. He also just recently started to get into Barney, so I’m sure we’ll be adding Barney to the Netflix Que.

Toys: Blake really doesn’t play with his toys that much, he would much rather climb up on the couch, jump on the bed or climb up and down the steps. He would probably play on the stairs all day if we let him. He can now walk up and down the stairs like an Adult (of course, he holds on to the railings). But he likes to be a Big Boy and walk the steps which make his Mommy and Daddy very nervous.

Blake’s Best Friend is his cousin Carly: They are really starting to enjoy playing with each other and it’s so cute to watch them interact with eachother. Grandma watches Blake and Carly on Mondays/Thursdays/Fridays so they are with each other 3 days a week. I think they wear their poor Grandma out because she is usually pretty exhausted at the end of the day. In all honestly, Blake wears his Mommy and Daddy out too. It’s exhausting working full time and taking care of an active little boy who is constantly on the go.

Humpty Dumpty Daycare: Blake might have to go to Daycare on Tues/Wed because his Daddy is trying to find a new job. Mike has recently been working nights and it’s beginning to take a toll on him. So hopefully within the next couple of months Mike will be able to get back to a Monday through Friday 8-5 job. I have mixed feelings about putting him in Daycare. On one hand I know it will be good for Blake to have more structured day and learn to interact with more than just his cousin. But on the other hand, it’s hard for me to let my little miracle baby be taken care of by anyone other than his Mommy, Daddy or Grandma. I just hope he doesn’t start getting sick if he ends up going to daycare. We’ve been so fortunate in the fact that he has been so healthy.

Blake continues to bring so much love and happiness into our lives and we feel so blessed to be his parents. Every night I watch his little eyes shut and peacefully drift off to sleep and every morning I’m awoken to his sweet little voice babbling away in his crib. I can’t think of a better way to start the day then by going into his room and seeing his bright smiley face.
